    laptop mouse click/touchpad

    so i have a sony vaio that is acting a little strangely. When I use the left mouse click below the touchpad, the mouse will not work in many programs, including microsoft word. However, when I click to open internet explorer and other programs on the task bar, these programs are opening twice. Any ideas on what could be causing this?
