my sony SZ does the connect/disconnect sound every hour or so. Is there any program that can log the hardware that is connected/disconnected?

Driver and chip works fine except for the resets, so I feel there's no need to reinstall. It's not as if some file got corrupted.

Being a HW engineer, my guess would be that the FW of the UPEK chip locks up once in a while and triggered its watchdog timer which then reset the whole chip. Resetting the chip would initiate a USB unplug/plugin event, which is why you're hearing the sound.

But I could be wrong of course.
