i'm in the market for an ultraportable notebook, namely the X505/CP and the TR5A. Here are my questions concerns:
1. The X505 has been out for a while, is there any news of a replacement/ speed bump/ update anytime soon?
2. Is the TR5A going to be replaced by the new T series announced by Sony? or is it just an additional product line.
3. Also, which one would you prefer?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

I have owned both.
I recently sold my TR3 on eBay, and bought the X505 from Dynamism.
My understanding (no special knowledge) is that the X505 will continue in production for this cycle for sure, the TR may be discontinued soon.
Consequently, we may see improvements in the X505 line at some point.
They are both super machines. Both are powerful enough for my wants.
I did buy a spare battery for the X505, which I never felt the need to do with the TR.
I do miss the built in DVD in the TR - the trade off being 1 lb in weight. I liked the built in camera on the TR (note that I did not use it too much though - maybe it is a 'geek thing')
I am glad that I have used both - each has their merits.
I did own a U50 for a week - sent it back - -
TR has been replaced by T in Japan, so don't expect any new TR models.

x505/cp has been discontinued...no longer made by japan-based sony. looks like the end soon for the japanese x505...and hopefully something better

If you absoultely are looking to stick with a Sony and want something with good functionality, go with the T. If you're looking for more style, go with the X505. You might be able to find a good deal on the x505 since it has been discontinued.

Just something follow up, I spoke to Dynamism after I read the above threads. Actually, The CP model is not really discontinnued. Just because that the price of CP in Japan is now much more expensive than before, it is difficult for dynamism to make money from CP models now. That is why Dynamism only offer the P and the SP now.
