looking to buy sony vaio 14"

hey every one, my dad is looking to buy a new laptop with an 14 inch screen.
for almost 8 years i guess he's been using dell vaio pcg-v505ac. it hasnt done any trouble for all those years (not even one time we had to go to the sony lab) so i decided we should continue with sony.
so im kinda looking for a simple laptop, my dad asked for an 14 inch screen, the uses will be mainly office and web browsing. no gaming and such.
he's going to be in washington dc the next week, so if you know any store that selling the type of vaio you suggest i'll buy say the name of the store as well.
i cant buy online, looking to buy only in a retail store (bestbuy,walmart,staples...)

Try out the Sony CS series, it just came out, starts very cheap. I think its like 800 dollars starting and for 1000, you can get one with a bluray drive for viewing high definition content. Anyway, its a sleek little 14 inch laptop, with a reasonable price.

Well if your dad is going to be in DC next week, have him go by the Sony Style store there. I know there is one in Tysons Corner Mall (20-30 min out of DC proper) in Mclean, VA, or Fashion Center at Pentagon City in Arlington, VA.

 

if your going to do it in retail only, i think your sony options are slightly limited. The new Z series and FW are at best buy, but the other sony laptops are not there yet. Do not, and i mean do not, have him buy an NR or CR notebook, they are outdated and for the same price, you can get the current version of those machines called the NS and CS respectively.

Perhaps try fry's or some other retailer. Walmart wont have them... Also, if you order off amazon or a pre-configured unit off www.sonystyle.com and choose expedited shipping it can be in your hands quite soon.

 

what about the sony style store you think i can find the CS series there? whats the closest store is to washington DC?
i saw there's a sony retail store at arlington. how far is it away from DC? do you know if maybe i can order online the laptop to that praticular store and than my father will go pick it up?

 

If you look above, someone mentioned the closest sonystyle stores to the DC area, i just checked on the sony webpage and the CS and NS computers are still under "preorder" status. So you actually can't buy them at the moment. Though for 1300 dollars you can buy a very nice 13.3 inch Sony Vaio SR, this may be a different notebook than your father needs. The notebooks that are the newest gen are the FW, SR, Z, and TT. The rest are still coming out...(including the CS and NS)
