Hi and welcome to the forums!
Make sure you set your boot priority with your optical drive first in the BIOS. -
sorry mate but i dont know how to do that only basic knowledge but thanks how would i do that it says boot mgr is missing
-
When you turn on your laptop, press F2 when you see the Sony logo. This will bring you to your BIOS. In your BIOS, you should navigate to the "boot priority" (or something similarly named) and change the sequence to boot to CD first. Make sure you save changes before exiting. -
ok im trying now

If you haven't deleted the recovery partiton then boot up and press F10 and that should work for you.

dont think I deleted the recovery partition but when I press f10 it says boot mgr missing .When I tried to action the system recovery - halfway through an error message appeared and process stopped . tried running my disc again and it just stops . It loads through the sony screen then says windows is loading files... the status bar goes from grey to white then stops to a blank screen microsoft corp start screen with the green bar loads then everything stops to a blank screen with a pointer arrow which can be moved. It seems as though the cd rom then stops working .
lost operating system
