Hi I have a 80gb fujitsu HD on my vaio FE. Its spins pretty loud. I can hear it at a normal distance (no need to get close). I dont think it was that loud when my laptop was new a couple of months ago. It seems to be working fine besides that. Anybody else with this issue? Should I worry? It is a bit annoying to be listening to it....

If you think its louder than before then you should get it repaired. When you call / log call with Sony you have to over exagerrate a bit.

Sometimes even running disk diagnostic wouldn't pickup anything. But if it's starting to get loud then you should get it replaced. I work with hdds everyday, some of them gets noisy after awhile. They would work without problem for a year, and some fails after a month.

So its better to get it replaced when its still in warranty.
