Am a long time Apple user and had to buy this to do work with work data systems, have need for high end screens -was going to get a desktop with a pair of screens, but saw the A190 and couldn't resist. Compared to Powerbook, it is bulky and XP is awful -cannot get driver for HP Photosmart printer to load (first time, it uninstalled itself after Microsoft intruded and volunteered a driver. My mistake was clicking okay and now the driver won't load. The screen is gorgeous. Also, wireless networking didn't work out of the box, had to bring it back to the store and after much fiddling -a knowledgeable fellow fixed the problem by deleting a the Windows XP bridging applet. Never happens with my powerbook. That said, with a gig of ram, everything now runs without a hiccup (anyone need 256mB ram modules -have two). With screen brightness way down, have been on line for two hours and battery says I have an hour left (35% power). Also, the machine is not glowing hot.

Overall, acceptable despite the XP handicaps.

Well, maybe the solution would be for Sony to build a notebook that uses Mac OS X since it seems that most of your issues are with XP! I have to say, it would be interesting if somebody else would make hardware for Mac operating systems other than Apple...and Sony being a bit of a renegade in electronics would seem like a candidate.
