OK, this is really making me mad.

I got my VGNC290 last March and it hasn't given been much of a headache. Last week all of a sudden the laptop couldn't detect its battery (of course when the battery was plugged in). After a few attempts like restarting the laptop and cleaning the battery contact, the computer still showed "battery undetected". Then I turned the computer off and wouldn't be able to get it turned on again. With power cord on, there was no light coming from the computer at all. So I took the laptop to a Sony store. The technician there tried a different power adaptor but still couldn't get it turned on. I also followed the 15 secs procedure from Sony website but nothing worked.

All of this happened 3 weeks after my 1-year warrenty expired. After paying Sony to have my laptop diagnosed I was told to pay over $750 for repair since it is out of the warrenty. I was told the problem is the motherboard with no further detail.

I paid over $1600 to get this laptop and kind of stuck at this point. Any suggest will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
