I was looking for deals on the tz198n/rc and came upon this site that accepts paypal. http://www.magoo6.com/SONY-VAIO-VGN-TZ198N/RC_P50534/ has anyone ever ordered from there? If so how were your experiences, their price seems too good to be true.

Anyone know a real good place to buy one if the above site is not good. Barring any japanese models as I need the WWAN so I can have sprint on the go. Strictly looking for SSD + HD configuration.

    Thanks guys.

Nope, sorry to burst your bubble, its just yet another pathetic foreign website I see so many times that "sells" laptops and other electronics and is a complete scam.

A "company" based in China with poor English selling North American laptops? Yeah right, too many scam websites from China and other countries. I wonder how many people they manage to scam.

Just like that TZ198N/RC Ebay auction you saw. Really sucks they get your hopes up with the low price but nope, you gotta pay the full, expensive price to get these babies.

Look at the page, how it says WesternUnion, then Paypal. They say they take Paypal to sucker you in and then request you to pay by old good lively WesternUnion and say bye bye to your cash.

EDIT: I just tried to "pay" them by Paypal and their link is invalid and their "Paypal" account is ([email protected])

So they ask you to email them first before paying, where they'll ask you to pay by Western Union.

I doubt their reliability too. Many items are too cheap to be true. I can speak Chinese, so I talked with their representative on MSN in Chinese. When I asked him why they do not set up a site on eBay, they answered ridiculously that they could not figure out how to do it. They eventually went angry with me and got off line when I ask more detailed question.

I also checked their feedback page, on which I found a guy used his email address as the name. So I emailed him. He replied that he had ordered an iPhone and were now waiting for it. You can contact him later to see if he did receive the order or not. He is French. Email: [email protected]

Better off just burning your money, its way more fun and gives you some heat. Just remember to make it in $1 bills so you have lots to burn :)

You can talk with the representatives of Magoo6.com on MSN Messenger. Their account is [email protected]. They are online for the most of the business time. I just had a conversation with them and shewed them this website. They said they were honest sellers and would ask their buyers to comment here.

This is definitely a scam. A user that we believe 'runs' that site just reported this thread stating that they are a perfectly fine site.

Given it was its first post defending a scam site, with poor language skills, etc...should give you even more of a clue this is a scam site.

    Avoid.

I was neither running that website nor defending it. I just showed the magoo6 this website to see their reaction. They asked me to leave a post for them. I agreed (for my own amusement). That is why you guys see my previous post.

It sounds like a defense. However, I neither bought any thing from that website nor be able to contact anyone who bought from that website. The French guy I mentioned in my first post, eventually decided not to take the risk. I know if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, then it is a duck. So I just merely stated what they could possibly say here in my previous, just for keeping my word.

I did recommend them to ask some of their former costumers to comment here. I wish they could find any.

As for my English skills, I have already tried my best -- I am still learning it anyway.

It does seem too good to be true. There is another site that pops up before magoo6 called faith sellers store. The web site set up is exactly the same as magoo6. I asked the faith seller shop for their pay pal address so I could see if they were verified. They would not give it to me unless I place the order.

To be fair, prices would be cheaper than the US because of import tax. My understanding is that it is on the order of $200-$400 cheaper. But those sites list it $800-$1000 cheaper than the US price. That is too good to be true. Either they are scams or they are playing around with paypal somehow so they can hide the income from the government.

When I do a whois.org search is comes back as

    Wang jiong
    Beijing
    Beijing Beijing 100016
    China
    tel: 86 10 66189956
    fax: 86 10 66189956
    [email protected]

This really doesnt help much, but it seems strange that if it was a trading company, why isnt their name shown in the domain registration info. Granted, many companies go through a third party manager.

The last strange thing is that shipping is only $15 for 2-4 day shipping from Asia. It does seem too cheap as well.

I was also tempted to order from them, but I could not find any info. anywhere under any of the company names listed on the sites. If they were scamming people, you would think their names would be on the blogs with warnings. But if they were really legit, thier names would be on all the blogs as well, with people saying it was a good deal. Either way, something smells fishy.

I wasn't talking about YOU... :D The person that reported the post saying it was an honest company was identified as a scammer and banned.
