I have a vaio pcg-k15 with 512mb ram. I researched and the laptop can handle a max of 1GB. So I purchased 2 512mb memory modules. But she installed it only registers 512. I also put 1 in at a time n they are both working just one installed at a time. The bios and windows only registers one chip. Is their something wrong with the memory or laptop?

Switch the modules' slots, and check if there is a BIOS update available....
