    moving when in hibernation mode

    do you guys move your laptop when it's in hibernation? is it safe?
    in sony guide, they point out not to move the machine when it's powered
    on :confused:

    In hibernation it's essentially off, you can move it with no risk. You can move when on too, so long as there are no sudden jolts and such, wouldn't want the HDD to get damaged.

    I never shut mine down other than hibernation or standby, and then its lugged around in mi bag. I've trod on my SZ while it was hibernating. SZ didn't compain.

    yup hibernation is a shutdown with a ram dump to harddrive. Standby is a shutdown with memory still getting power to hold what it was doing.

    I do it literally everyday :D. Never a problem with my SZ. One reason I got the SZ is so that I could do that because its so light to carry everywhere ;)

    Never realized that carrying around the lappy when the hard drive is on could damage the hard drive. Done that for the past long years and my lappies never complain abit!

    Before you get TOO concerned...remember that iPods (that every one carries around while using) contain spinning hard drives.

    You're only going to damage it if you introduce real shock to it...and even then, the hard drive protection helps BEFORE the shock, by sensing drops, etc.

    It's not quite as sensitive as all that...
