    Hi guys,

I just found this neat "tip" to use 'msconfig' -> boot -> advanced options and then change the number of processors to '2' for my VGN-Z. This has made boot much quicker (it was always over 60seconds...).

Has anyone else found their boot time to be slow (it was the same under Vista) of around 1minute on the VGN-Z?

Secondly, I wonder why windows doesn't automatically use both processors -- do you think there's some negative about using it?

    Thanks!

Urban myth. Sorry, but that didn't really do anything to improve the boot time. By default, Windows DOES use all the cores. That option is only there to REDUCE the number of cores used. It is there for testing and for some server configurations.

There are other threads here about this with specific details about this.
