i have a vaio VGN-FS640/W and all of a sudden it just stopped turning on. i took out the ram put it back in, tried to run it without the battery and just the ac adapter but nothing seems to work. Is something wrong with the motherboard? If so, is there anything i can salvage from this?

If you push the power button and it does ABSOLUTELY nothing (ie no noises or anything), then it's probably catastrophic.
