just got this VAIO laptop in my hands from my nephew in the mail, it seems that only the bottom half LCD display is operational. I have never worked on a VAIO and have extensive experience on Panasonic Toughbooks. I am trying to find out where I can get a new or used LCD monitor that is compatible with this model laptop. the laptop model number is in the title of the post and the serial number if it helps anyone is...28249831-3000640. any response at all guys will be very helpful to me getting this laptop running again before school starts.

Are you 100% sure it's not just an unseated LVDS connector? Is the bottom half backlit? Better yet, is the top-half backlit?

XGX2007, I have the laptop in my hands and it is the right half of the screen that is messed up. I have included a picture of it while I am doing a fresh vista install. also this laptop will need a new keyboard, how do I go about locating one of those?. also to keep many of the questions on the least amount of posts... I am confused about the model number, in the box that it came in the mail there is a bag and inside is a manual for the VGN-AR300 series VAIO, but underneath the laptop it says PCG-8X1L. so which one is it? I tried to go onto the sony website for drivers and have the browser auto detect the model number but it failed. ok update #3, just got into the BIOS and it says that the Machine Name is-VGN-AR350E which makes me even more confused?
