hi, i've owned a g-type for the last 8 months, i love everything about it,
but most of all i was verry fond of demonstating how thin the LCD was and bending the screen lid back and forth while saying ''look at this! it bends!!''

last weekend i was trashed and bent it too far, now i've broken the screen.
-i've tryed all the screen replacement websites, but they cant help me getting annother as its a relativly new kind of screen....

    >can anyone on this forum help me finding a place who can sell me one??<
-sending the laptop to sony for the replacement is not an option right now.

    many thanks ;-)

Try the sony support. They might be able to ship you the screen. Wont go under warranty unless you have accidental damage. Then your job is to track someone that can replace it.

hi hunningolla!, thanks for your response,
like i said on my first post, sending it in to sony is not an option right now. i live in the spanish countryside, hundreds of kilometers from the nearest place where i could even drop off the computer at an authorised dealer who would then ship it to the repair factory.
as for sony selling me a replacement screen ,which would seem the simplest answer-this is not possible because it violates their service policy:they wont sell me a panel without also installing it themselves.- and my search for an online dealer who stocks these panels has been fruitless...

In the USA you can order parts through Sony's DAPC, but it seems there is no equivalent in Europe. And even if you could get parts from the Sony DAPC to Europe, the G is not a US model so you couldn't get it.

Sending it to Sony sounds like your ONLY option.

Do you have the accidental damage warranty?
And I actually ment that they'd ship the part to you but if they dont have that policy dunno about it then. But if you happen to have the warranty they will come and pick up the unit at your door, even though you live at antarktis, but if it wont go under warranty then it'd be pretty expensive. (120€ something if I remember correctly).
Reading from Fin site cost would be: 100-150 for asessment(can apparently be done by phone), shipping (not negotiable, ~54€ ;), work ~78€,the lcd ~566€. That comes to about ~700€. Prices taken from Finnish site. Hope this helps at all. But thats the prices you'll be looking at. After its been shipped to them theyll send you an estimated price and you can decline the repairs at this point.
