apparently, if you pre-order a Sony VGN-290, from the Canadian sonystyle.ca site, with

    - Core 2 Duo P8700 (2.53Ghz)
    - 4GB RAM
    - 250 GB HD (5400 rpm)
    - DVD drive with dual layer read/write capability

the purchase price is $980. is this the typical price for a 14.1" notebook configured as such? i suspect having an Intel 4500MHD integrated GPU is one reason to the sub $1000 price point. http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs...mId=8198552921665745181&IRTrack=HomepageSpot1

Actually after I saw your message, I checked the CS290 today, and you may get a also bd reader/writer with a 400gb for 940usd (1200 cad) and the same processor 2.5ghz

    Question:
Is it possible to buy inn sonystyle canada from the US and ship it in an economic way?
    Thanks
