new sony vaio fz offer!

hey..i planned to purchase a sony vaio fz cto 4000and was all set to order in 2-3 days when sony suddenly comes up with this new offer: ..
it offers free office 2007 for all customisable notebooks instead of all the free hardware upgrades(which were really cool)..hell i already have an office 2007 cd nd don't need it but due to removal of all those free upgrades my cost has gone up atleast by 200$...it says the offer is valid till 14th may..
what after that will they restore the hardware upgradatn offers?..should i wait for it to end or buy it unless this offer also gets scrapped on may 14th..
1)originally i planned to buy a 200 gb 7200 rpm disk but now i may go fer a 160 gb hybrid hard drive..which will b bttr/faster(dun care bout the space)??
2)it may b a vry stupid question but will there be ny reduction in shipping charges or taxes if i purchase it through a sonystyle store instead of ordering nline??..
r there ny other methods by which i can get a discount on my vaio laptop..

Who knows what they will offer after this MSFT Office thing. The 7200rpm drive is going to be faster, but unless you are doing some intensive work, you probably will not notice the difference. The hybrid drive does not really offer anything significant either. Just go with the regular 160 HDD.

You would save shipping charges if purchased from a local store.

 

Sony always offers free ground shipping so if you don't mind waiting a few extra days there really isn't a difference between buying instore or online. Then again they might be having some some special offer at one place and not the other.

 

Unfortunately I think you missed out. Their specials are hit and miss and the ones that apparently are gone now were pretty good. You never know what specials will come up and if you see something good, you just have to go for it. I would also recommend to wait at least for a free shipping (usually tuesday-thursday I think).

 

I remember if you used Sony's Chase CC you would get anywhere from $50-$150 dollars off(It changed every few months) I'm not sure whether they still offer this kind of special though.

The Sony CC is available to apply for when you are buying the laptop on SonyStyle. When I bought mine last month, they had $100 off on one plan or 12 months no interest on another. I took the 12 months no interest.

 

They don't offer the discount plus the no interest? That sucks, last year I got both even when I didn't purchase from Sony Style.
