Does anyone have any information as to when Sony intends to release an sz with an hdmi out and a blueray drive?

I was hoping there would be one in time for the holidays. . .

No, definitely not before the holidays, if ever. I think they will make a new S series before they add HDMI and Blu-Ray to the SZ.

It doesnt seem logical for them to release the new SZ after the holidays. Even if their intention is to rid themselves of the remaining stock, why offer such paltry selection to their customers in such an important time of the year?

thanks for the info, ken wind.

a bit of a tangent, but I have to ask - would it be so hard for Sony to just respond to customer demand and release an sz with a tz keyboard, HDMI, and Blu-ray? wouldn't that significantly simplify things for the on-the-fence buyer (like myself)?

I hope they release a SZ with the TZ keyboard, but I don't know if they will. Tell them what you want! If enough people voice their opinion, Sony will eventually listen to them. HDMI would be great too.

The Sz wont be ultraportable after they equip the notebook with Blu-Ray drive.

why would the drive take up any more space than a dvdr?

The weight of a blu-ray drive is higher than a dvdr

I liked the design of the original S much more than the SZ series, I hope they can go back to that, it had a lower, smaller profile.

Blu-ray on anything less than a 17" with 1920X1080 res would be pointless IMO. But I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. ;)

agreed - unless of course you envision a future in which you own primarily blu-ray disks.
