Quick question --- I am going through the process of cleaning up my new machine (msconfig, services.msc, add/remove programs, etc) and I think I might have disabled something that I shouldn't have.

Every once and a while, when I press the power button on my computer, the OS will hang up ---- the mouse icon will turn into an hour glass and it will just sit there. I currently have the power button set to "ask me what to do". Also, every once and a while when I restart/shutoff, the computer will hang up on the 'Windows is shutting down' prompt.

Any thoughts as to why this might be happening? I'm running XP Pro.

    Thanks!
