I hoped that would get your attention!

This was a supreme compliment (I think!) from our friends in the Black Forest (Germany, that is)! I've been looking at the forums of notebookcheck.com (the native German site, the English version, notebookcheck.net omits the forums, But you can use Google Translate and get a reasonable approximate (this example to the contrary :D) of what they are saying in their post. This post was in the thread about the review "NBC" gave last September of their first Z21, and the subject was the crummy drivers on the first PMDs.

"As for driver updates: since one can only hope for the freaks in notebookreview.com Forum, which also provided for the Z11/Z12/Z13 updates. Why this Sony VAIO Update installed is beyond me - there's never been something useful in terms of drivers come only updates its multimedia software ... Nobody needs. : - / "

(perhaps Pyro or one of our other Deutsch-Lautsprechers can better translate the idiomatic "freaks" [in notebookreview.com]" I like to think it really means "amazingly talented people!!") I am quite certain, the literal translation is not what the writer intended. See for yourself:

The best translation of the expression "computer freak" used in German is something like "pro" or "geek" or "tech guy". You're right lovelaptops, in this context the poster means something very positive like "these awesome pros at NBR are our last hope to get good drivers". You can also use the "freak" expression to describe a guy in a negative way tho - like "nerd" or computer addict that spends all day long in the basement.

I'm also comfortable with the term dork, nerd or "one who now makes more money than the jocks in high school"

In case you haven't seen it, watch The Italian Job (2003 version) and think of the character "Napster" (but I'll bet you aren't nearly that nerdy :D)

BTW, M3 or M5? I had the E60 (2009) Black. Problem was, it redlined at 8,000 rpm and I couldn't drive it legally over 2,000. :D

The pic was taken on a SLT-A77VQ, if anyone cares about that kind of thing.

Your car and computers are one thing, but that camera - over the top. :D If it wasn't too big for my liking, I would be more envious yet!

Yeah, it isn't small but that's what the TX10 is for. You should see the full kit with the vertical grip and high-power flash.

Well that and the A77 wouldn't fair too well underwater without help.

A proper nerd is easy to identify, because he cuts the money he needs for things like the Z2 from the budget that goes into buying more than one set of clothes per decade.

Getting kicked in the butt a lot by the SO helps balancing things a bit. ;)

I'm either going to build a electronics storage wing in my new house or have a massive online sell off. Probably a bit of both.

The A77 explains how you've resisted the Hasselblad (other than the minor cost issue). Any thoughts on the F30 series? Minor evolution with a fuel-efficiency spin?

Do styles change more often than that?

Can I be part of the preview elite (for the sale - I don't do construction)?
