    Hi everyone,

I am seriously thinking about purchasing a sony tz91 with the 64 GB ssd + dvd option. If I order from pricejapan, this would cost 346800 yen, which turns out to be $2,820.78 (cdn). This is _significantly_ cheaper than conics or dynamism (not to mention that the ssd option isn't even available in Canada).

Before I purchase though, I had a few questions...

-Does anyone know if the pricejapan website price includes their 5% commission?

-Will I be charged huge import duties and taxes upon the laptop's arrival in Canada?

-Which warranty do you recommend I purchase?

    Thanks!

Whatever price they quote you should be the final price, with shipping, commission, etc.

I don't know where you get your quote, but pricejapan's final price (inclues everything) for the tz91 you wanted should be $3201(cdn). tz91 with 48gb ssd +dvd is $2888 (cdn) based on today's currency exchange rate. So you see it's about the same with dynamism, and it has a better warranty program.

Thanks for the replies. I got my quote from the pricejapan website: http://www.pricejapan.com/front/e_good_info.php?code=347&category=6 . According to this site, the tz91 (Premimum carbon, Core 2 Duo U7600(1.20 GHz), 2G memory,2.5''160G HDD, 802.11 a/b/g/n wireless LAN, etc) is 232,800 Yen. To upgrade to the 64BG ssd + dvd is 114,000 Yen. I then went to www.xe.com to convert 346800 Yen to Canadian dollars and I got $2,828.49 (as of November 5th).

    Am I missing something?

You are missing their commission and the cost of the DHL delivery plus the insurance. This brings the cost to 3,360 USD. You have to click on the 'Quote' button to finalize the quote.

    Always a catch, ain't there? :)

But this final price doesn't include any customs taxes you might have to pay for importing right? How much in taxes can one expect to pay for importing to United States, if any at all?

There should be no taxes to the US. I think I read somewhere about some personal computer exepmtion thing but don't take my word for it. Of course, in all the gustapo European countries, it's a different matter altogether :)
