I didnt realize it was going to be so short. Sadly I use my laptop when on the couch downstairs and the shelf that the dock would be placed at is three feet to the left.

has anyone DIYd an extension cable?
    TIA

Been looking around the forum and I highly doubt such a PMD extension cable exists, perhaps your best bet is to use a regular power extension cord. Just keep in mind to use one with sufficient wire gauge, 18 AWG should be more than enough, just try to avoid 24-26 AWG.

ah, use an extension cable and the traditional power cord as a possibility?

Depends on what you want to extend. Only power, usb2.0/3.0 or graphics? The latter will be very problematic, the others should be perfectly doable with standard cables.
