As some of you might know, ripped dvds can't be played as is on vista. If u got v premium, then u can twick the mediacenter to play them, but if u don't have mediacenter, like if u got vista biz only, then u need to get a 3rdparty prog. After some googling, people recced powerdvd, so I got that, and it played ripped dvds-- except...
90% of time, though, dvds play really slow, more like a slideshow than a movie. So, is this a vista problem? I don't know, but I don't think so.
I also have gom, and dvds play fine on gom. It's just that gom's so barebone compared to powerdvd.
What can I do to make dvds play more consistently on my FZ (2gb ram, 1.06 mhz U7500, 4200 rpm HD, Intel 950 graphics)?

Also, there's this really annoying thing playing back AVIs. I have gom and vlc, which let me play pretty much every format. And so they do, except this one thing. Every time I try to play AVIs, these stupid error signs come up, saying "core xvid.dll not found". This pops up like rabbits breeding, and sometimes crashes my explorer, prompting a restart.
The thing is, the actual AVIs play fine. There's no problem at all in watching them, except these annoying warnings keep popping up. What do you think is the problem?
powerdvd and FZ, xvids and vista
