I tried searching in the forum but the search was giving me "invalid search query"

Now that the Z comes in Quad core I am ready to jump on board but the lid "options" has me stumped.

I like how the standard has the Silver hinge but if the premium is more solid or something than thats a better way to go.

Looking forward to joining the sony community!
I am not sure if I am coming to the dark side or the good side!

If you are talking about US options, premium carbon for SVZ13 is brushed carbon surface with glossy coating/treatment, and carbon black is just brushed carbon surface -- this is the premium carbon offered in VPC-Z2, though, when the carbon black in VPC-Z2 has no brushed surface.

In other area like Japan where the non-brushed regular black is still offered, non-brushed is black, brushed is premium carbon black, and glossy brushed is glossy premium black.

Lord, now I'm even more confused! Note to self: must not visit this forum before having my morning mug of coffee. :) Just kidding! No offense.

FiReBReTHa: I have the carbon black Z1 and would like to warn you that carbon fiber is not very scratch resistant. Check out protection methods beforehand - just the simple action of putting the laptop in and out of the carrying case has left scratches on mine. :(
