bought a new sz680 and cr190 which arrived today. I did the semiclean vista install as soon as i opened the box and everything seems to work well, except......
i can't figure out how to connect to the internet using the ethernet cable. wireless works fine but i can't get a connection with the ethernet and i can't figure out how to make the damn LAN work.
i haven't installed some of the utilities suggestion by the semiclean install walk through because if i use the launcher.exe program, it installs all the bloatware as well...
maybe i'm just not familiar with vista...i miss XP![]()
p.s. if you're looking to get a sz680, get the black keyboard. i regret paying 30 bucks more for an ugly keyboard.

Are you sure it isn't your network? Also, the program should let you select what you want to install and what you don't. Other SZ users have reported success, and I perfected the guide on my CR.

i'm running to program "launcher.exe" from c:/programfiles/sony/comborestone. i can't find another laucher.exe anywhere
the program looks like this and just installs everything including bloatware(sorry, i didn't resize):
what am i doing wrong?
on a side note, i installed a stick of old pc4200 1gb ram and the laptop does not recognize it. does it need the newer pc5300 ram? (2x2gb sticks, one for each lappy arrving by mail from newegg tomorrow) -
i feel stupid now...should have read the instructions more carefully.
in case anyone who was stuck in the same boat as i was but was too ashamed to ask the question (re: launcher.exe), the correction laucher.exe app is found in c:/programfiles/sony/recovery fold which needs to be copied to an external source (cd, ext. hd, usb driver, etc) BEFORE you do the semi-clean recover. at least everything is sorted out now.
the SZ680 is done and i'm working on the CR190 right now.
problem with LAN, SZ and CR
