hi i am new here and i have a movie that i ripped onto my laptop into a .mkv file and im using media player classic to run the movie but my problem is the movie is running very slow and the sound is not keeping up with the movie i ran my nvidia control panel updaye and still seem to get the same response am i missing a file a driver or simply playing it with the wrong program i know my laptop is 1080p i has a stick on it saying full hd is there anyone that can help me or has experienced the same problem?

If you are using Vista, you need to make sure the power setting is on high performance.
If you are using XP, you need to set the laptop's power management to the 'high power' or 'max performance' (or equivalent).
Also, try VLC player, one of my PCs refuses to play 1080p with media player classic and VLC works fine. -
hmm im using vista and my performance is on high the vlc ran a hell of alot better but still freezes sometimes and doesnt seem like it can handle the movie which im not gettin is there something in my display settings i hafta change or but vlc made it alot better but still running into some minor problems any suggestions

If you're playing it on the laptop display, is your 620E's display resolution 1920x1200? Because if not, then it's not displaying native 1080p, but interpolating. If this is being done strictly in software, then it would affect playback performance significantly.
The laptops that claim full HD capability I believe are referring to output capability to an external monitor. But to get 1080p in the laptop display itself, it *must* have a 1920x1200 (WUXGA) display. -

ok well i have a sony 1080p hdtv so that should play it correct cuz i have a hdmi cable that runs it straight to the tv its a 50 inch sony sxrd should look nice but anyways im going to try what you guys said
-
the maximum resolution on my laptop screen goes 1440 by 900 is there anyway i can manually set it or is it just the external output that plays 1080p
-
You can't display 1080 on a 1440x900 as 1080>900.
-
soo what does this mean?
-
It's not code for anything. I mean what I say and I say what I mean.
-
should it run smoothly on my tv then?
-
I assume this is mkv/h264/x264?
The problem you are having is a codec problem that isn't able to efficiently decode the x264/MKV container file. Your machine requirements should run it perfectly fine, heck my 2 year old Asus W3V with a Pentium M 2.26 can, why can't yours?
Just download either the latest "K-lite codec" or "CCCP" or "CoreAVC" and you should have smooth x264 video. -
so what program would you choose out of those 3 and yes its a .mkv file it plays fine for a little bit then freezes and then goes back to normal so you think all i need to do is get the latest coreavc and it should run smoothly
-
yes. However CoreAVC is not free(but the fastest decoder), so I would recommend the other 2 (which are codec packs that contain alot of other codecs such as divx/xvid etc) Just choose either one, both are highly recommended packs.
-
i just purchased coreavc but i dont know how to run the file are these just codecs or is it an actual media player?
-
After your done installing CoreAVC,
use either
VLC Player
or
Media Player ClassicLast edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -
