That only applies to the complete ProSet package. If you're using the pure driver and let Windows manage the WiFi you're good to go.

I am doing the same thing on my FE-590 and have no problems. I have been checking task manager and have not found a problem so far.

the current version which according to article above should have been released friday is on the intel site 10.5.0.1 1,2
    http://support.intel.com/support/wireless/wlan/sb/cs-010623.htm

is this newer then the 8/9 version?

my ram use went up to one gig for just the system software and the biggest hog was this: s24evmon which seems to have something to do with the proset.

i upgraded despite the warning on the intel site with the generic pro set and it works like a charm. my memory usage went from 1gb with firefox beta2 and outlook to less then 1/2 of that. i know that there are other ways to manage the connections, window etc, but this works for me.

    sz 160 with 2gbram

so the switcher still works?.. my understanding was that the new driver would render the bt/wifi switch useless ... i was waiting for the next patch...

did you get the driver off the Sony support site?

Thats what I do (use Windows manager for WiFi) and I prefer it. Less processes to run and simpler to use :).

I was having this problem on a vaio s. The solution is to copy libeay32.dll to your Wireless Switch Setting Utility directory.

It worked like a charm....credit goes to http://www.ozzu.com/ftopic62711.html
