i'm having problems with the battery. the life seems to be getting shorter and shorter in a matter of days. at the minimum configuration i remember first getting almost 3 1/2 hours now it's down to less than 3 hours. i complained to the store where i bought it, asking if they can replace my batteries. the guy says that he will have to email sony and ask them if they are willing to replace the battery. since i live in the philippines (no local service), a replacement won't come for another 2-3 weeks.

is this a real problem? any chances i'll be given a new battery? i had expected the battery to last half what they promised but > 3 is kinda alarming to me, since i need it to be portable and last awhile.

3hrs is about right. Lots of different factors can contribute to the variation in battery life. You should do a test under a controlled set of parameters to gage your baseline of battery life. Test it again after a period of time using the same parameters as the basline test, to see if you are actually losing battery capacity.

yes, i tested it with the same configurations. on the very first day, after charging for 12 hours, 100% capacity was about 3:20 hours. then i noticed in the succeeding days i wasn't getting the same duration. today, 100% = 2:40 hours.

i talked to the boss of the store again, and i reminded him that they have a 7 day outright replacement policy. that ends on tuesday. he however promised me that he will have a replacement for me by friday next week. i'm just nervous now, since i won't be in my legal right to demand a replacement after tuesday.

its normal. Look at all the battery issues I wrote about. 3+ is good. Dont trust the meter. make sure you didnt move the switch from stamina to speed as that alone would remove an hour.

yes, i was asking if i could get a replacement by tuesday. but they explained that they only ship SZs by batches. the last batch they had was sold out and a new batch is only coming on friday.

so i hve no choice, when i pestered them about it, they replied begging for me to trust them. oh boy

If you are really worried, just return it and wait for the next batch. It's the safest thing you could do.
