Try to run the fn button in every way and asked many experts but without the benefit of
So it will not buy any laptop from Sony anymore and will recommend everyone not to purchase

    I have a laptop Sony vgn-sz740
The system and Windows Vista Business 32-bit then you do formate and installed, and Windows 7 64-bit
Everything is fine except the button fn. Tried a lot and I asked the experts, but to no avail. Followed the guide located here step by step, but without interest. Do you find the solution

You should look at the tutorials for installing windows on a VGN-SZ series.I also had before a SZ series and didn't had any problems with him no hardware no software if you install all the utilities in the correct order and all the stuff you won't have any problems ;)

I think even that guide says that there are issues with the Fn keys on Win7 on the SZ series, specifically the brightness keys? I have Win7 32-bit on my SZ4 and the volume definitely works, though I am unsure about the brightness and cannot check as she is totally dismantled for a fan replacement job!

I do know Sony's stock response is that Win7 is not supported on that range of laptops so not too sure that it is worth getting too worked up over it!

well the drivers for your machine are probably not writeen for a 64-bit operating system. so its no wonder your machine's fn key will not work. too bad... try to use it with a 32-bit operating sys like win 7 32-bit.

I did everything as it should. And I bet on it. drivers may be incompatible with Windows 7 64-bit
