HI all,
Im considering purchasing an s360 online for a good price, but would like to purchase some sort of warranty separately, either from sony or elsewhere. Does anybody have experience with this or suggestions on how to go about doing this? Thanks

You can call Sony to add warranty on models purchased from retail anytime and no later than the 11th month of the included warranty. If you pay by credit card, you most likely get another year- check with your CC company.

Thank you for your reply.
I know that sony support is notoriously bad, but would it still be the best idea to go with them? Or are there other, better options out there? -
I just bought an S360 on Amazon.com. They offer extended warranty through a 3rd party. I was considering getting it, but I didn't know you could add on Sony coverage. Hmmm...anyone have any advice or comments?

If you want extended warranty, there is no other option except Sony. I personally don't think it is necessary to buy extended, especially after the one year warranty extension you get from credit card (not every credit card, though).

what type of credit card would automatically include an extra year of warranty?

Wait until you see the price of the Sony warranty coverage.[}

It's best just to buy the system with an American Express or something else that provides the additional year of warranty service. Although my experience with Sony support was outstanding 2 years ago, I've never used the normal home user call line (even though I am one, but I work at a retail store that sold their stuff and knew a fast number). I like Sony stuff, but the price you pay does not translate into performance very well, _especially_ on the warranty. I think their plans are a rip-off personally. If you really have to have one, you need to go with your credit card's automatic coverage or purchase the warranty at point of sale to get a small discount. If not, Sony will mail you something with outrageous prices right before your normal warranty expires.
With my GRZ630 the big problem happened in the first month. After the warranty expired only a stick of ram failed, and that was 1/3rd the cost of a warranty plan at the minimum. Don't get me wrong, I loved my Sony back when I had it.[]
purchasing warranty/service plan separately?
