Hi friends,
I recently purchased a vaio sz 430n/b. I have a query regarding the laptop case quality.
Before this I had a dell inspiron 6000, and after a few months of use.....the color on both sides of touch pad started to fade off, as hands are on that area all time.........so its natural due to skin moisture & perspiration.....the color is bound to fade.
here is a photo of it:

i called dell, and they immediately replaced the full body free of cost. and they gave me a new one with plastic coating.
however as i live in india, and my vaio is purchased in usa & it has a usa only warranty........i wont be getting support here.
my query is, does the vaio color also fade off in same area?? i think it has a metal body.....so it should not. But anyone using same model for more than 3 -4 months can give me better idea.

I've been using several SZ models for over a year now, no signs of fading. In fact, I've never seen one with a faded wristrest.

I believe all sony vaio sz series notebook have carbon or aluminum palmrest areas. This means they will not fade.

fyi - most "cheap" laptops uses plastic casings which are spray-painted to give off the desired appearance and then coated with a hardening layer to protect the paint layer underneath. depending on usage and wear & tear, these layers will ultimately wear off.

Premium models also have carbon fiber lids.
query reg. sony sz430n/b quality
