    hey,

looking at getting the SZ440 through sonystyle.com and i noticed that vista is standard now, which sucks b/c i don't care for it given all the bugs everyone is talking about. Now I read on this forum that several people attempted to install XP so you could have dual OS's on the notebook, but after reading what is involved, it is evident that i would end up in a pile of headaches.... so i guess i will be sticking with Vista if i get the SZ440.

now the bone-stock price is 1296 and the main specs are as such.
    Pentium Celeron M 1.86 Ghz
    512 x 2 ram
    60 gb of HD

Now my question is: Is it highly recommended to have the dual-core processors in the SZ in order to better run Vista.

I don't want to end up ordering bonestock and getting a slow computer.

    regards

Well, Windows Vista is supposed to run better with a dual core processor, so it should benefit system response. But, a dual core processor will help more and more applications work faster, because they will become multi-threaded. I advise that you consider a dual core processor, as it will help futureproof the notebook and it will get more and more useful as time progresses.
