if i get a sony sr and it breaks down after the initial return period but still within the 1 year limited warranty will i be able to bring it to a sonystyle store and have them fix it instead of sending it in to sony?
-
I think you're better off getting their onsite in home service. That way if it breaks down, you can schedule a day for them to come into your home and have them fix it in front of you.
-
yeah i would get the warranty but the laptop is out of budget as is and i really like this model. the onsite and extended warranties are pretty expensive
-
Are you in the US? If so, why wouldn't you get one of the Vaio Campus offers?

You can pick of the cheapest accessories, and the warranty (2 year ADH for example) originally $280.00, comes down to $35.08 -
it still exceeds my 1400 budget though. is it possible to add the warranty later on?
-
Does not. Will...a little, it comes out to $1436.11 (tax & shipping included)
I just randomly picked 2 cases, and the 2 year accidental damage and handling warranty.
These were the only changes I made:
P8400
2 GB DDR2-SDRAM
160 GB sata Drive -
but i also add the dedicated card though
-
I think the dedicated card is just a $100 more right?
The point is that if you get the campus pack, you save $250 minimum because the plan and accessories together cost less then $50 together. -
having the dedicated card adds $99 this automatically gets you over budget. I was able to order my computer for 1533.26 with the tax and i added the video card two year with ADH + headset 19.99(outofstock) and neoprene case 22.99. It would have 1510.05 if i choose 3 year warranty and i would have also picked different accessories to get a better deal.
The tax adds about $100 more so you'd have to get a computer at 1300 to be with in budget.
If you want to be in budget you would need to get the 3 year warranty without the dedicated card. Also get accessories under $100 worth -
is that with the 2gigs of ram and 160gb hard drive upgrade?
-
Yes that's with the upgrade deal and the college saver i also added the ms office student.
I Added $0 for ms office student 2gb ram and 160gb.
The only thing that i increased the price for the computer was for the video card. -
why does sony call it's integrated graphics as 4500M hd when everywhere else they call it x4500. what kind of games can the integrated card play?
-
I'm no idea the difference and what an integrated card can play
but in sonystyle calls it a
Mobile Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 4700MHD with Intel® Clear Video Technology
In portableone they call it a:
Mobile Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD VRAM
If you live outside of california it's tax free.
If you want the notebook with a dedicated card try checking here
http://www.google.com/products?q=sr129e&btnG=Search+Products&hl=en&show=dd&scoring=p -
From what i can deduct, the 4500MHD is different then the regular 4500, in that it is more powerful, has a higher clock speed, and has hardware HD video decoding.
Meanwhile, the 4700MHD may very well be a myth, but most likely is just a higher clocked version of the 4500MHD, according to notebookcheck(the only source that makes mention of this card) it is around 100 mhz faster than the standard 4500MHD. -
so does anyone know if i can just bring it to a sonystyle store to get it serviced?
-
I doubt it. Walking into my local sonystyle store is full of idiots all trying to sell me something. Its not even like Best Buy's half competent Geek Squad members in there. I think its purely a retail station, and I don't think there's any technicians just waiting around to service notebooks or computers.
