    Hi all,

I just recieved my VAIO s580 and have a few questions to my fellow vaio owners,

    1. has anyone noticed that the buttom-part of the screen "lights up" a little bit more then the rest when you start the computer? For example when the windows xp icons appers and the screen is mostly black, then i clearly see that the buttom part is alot brighter then the rest, why and has anyone the same issue?

    2. when i start my notebook it seems like the bluetooth first wants to start (the light turns on and I see the icon at the taskbar), then when the notebook is fully started it dissapears. anyone with the same "problem"? Can I set it up so it doesnt start up at every startup?

    3. has anyone tryed to undervolt the s580? I dont seem to be avaible to get any temp. under 46C when running 800mhz at 0.732volt.

and a happy x-mas to you all!

For the first part, AFAIK it is a common problem in the S series, caused from the screen's led layout.

You can switch your bluetooth on easily by using the wireless switch setting utility which can be found on the lower right of your taskbar, a square with the letter B on it.

If it does not start automatically, usually it is found in the following folder.

    C:\Program Files\Sony\Wireless Switch Setting Utility

"common problem", meaning it should be like that or that I should return it so they can fix the "problem"?

btw about the bluetooth, my problem is that I dont want the bluetooth on all the time so its set off by default, but my notebook seem to want to start it everytime i start up the system anyway (and later turn it off when its done loading all the "crap"..)

hmmm... I should say that it is a common complaint for the S series, which is due to the design of the LCD. I believe there is nothing you can do.

On the otherhand, I misunderstood your question. There is no way to turn it off AFAIK until you boot the system. In some brands like Dell you have the option to control the radio from the bios but this can not be done in Vaios.
