So I managed to get Vista up and running, really like the feel of it, etc etc. Unfortunatley, my install was a little 'messy' (for lack of a better word). A Sony phone support person had me run a system restore, which didn't do much to make the process a smooth one.

In any case, I *would like* to restore my system to original factory settings, and then re-install/upgrade Vista from a clean slate. The instructions included with the Vista upgrade actually suggest doing this if your computer is affected with spy-ware that corrupts Vista.

I shouldn't run into any problems, should I? Re-using your own key to re-upgrade Vista won't cause any red-alarms? I haven't brought my computer online let with Vista enabled, if that makes any difference.

Thanks for your input -- would love to get this up and running today.

well you can also try this. .

The Vista Express update is a bootable disc... you can boot from it and do a clean install. I find that most times when you do a simple upgrade it takes longer and the system just is not as fresh and fast as a clean install. In the end the choice is yours. But i recommend a clean install. What I would do is use the recovery setup and recover then put the express upgrade disc in and start the process when it gets to that point choose clean install and you are good to go.

You're the second person that's recommended a clean install using the Express Upgrade kit.

My main concern was just that this will WORK. Re-using the Vista Key to re-install on the same machine, specifically.

Yes it will work I had to do it with my HP DV2025 NR. when you install uncheck the activate when online box. when the install is done then you activate feel free to contact me via this board or private message .. I have had the same issue and it worked out fine. The Vista Express will work great in this situation
