hi all,

Recently my laptop is getting hot. so I decided to check the temperatures with speed fan. I see my core temperatures reaching 77C when I am just browsing internet with Firefox.here is the snapshot when temp is 72C
[IMG][/IMG]

Before this I never paid attention on temperatures as I never felt hot when using laptop on my laps. Now I cant use it on my laps as it is very hot.

What is wrong with my laptop. I have warranty until december 2008. Sony once replaced my fan as it was making high pitch sound.

I see that my fan is running.

any comments?

Make sure there isn't any dust in the vent or where the air intake. (Can be cleaned by using compressed air).
Make sure you haven't decreased the fan speed using speedfan. If none of these work then i would recommend asking sony.

thanks for your reply. Are these too high temperatures? I did not decrease fan speed. If I call sony they will ask me how do I measure temperatures! I think they do not entertain any third party softwares.

Can somebody post their temperatures for comparison?

Try using CoreTemp. I think it is more accurate than speedfan. Besides, it gives the max temp for your cpu.

70C while just browing is pretty hot. I only get to 70C when I run Orthos which maxes out the cpu.

If I'm just browsing firefox, my temp stays between 45c and 50c. I have a sony vaio Z.

I just noticed that when I was watching online video on cbn, core temperatures are reaching 77C with 60 % loading on both cores. As soon as I closed live video temperatures went down below 50 with just 2-3% load.
