    hey guys , i upgraded my VGN-NR498E from vista home premium32 to windows 7 ultimate64 recently. i did a clean install.
    I guess the basic fuctions of windows work.. but not all of the laptop fuctions.
    Such as the Fn keys.

    i'm not sure which ones i need and which are bloatware

    I don't know your model, but know a few programs you do need.

    In order to get the Fn keys to work you need to install VAIO Event Service. It's also great to have VAIO Care, VAIO Update, VAIO Control Center, Settings Utility Update, and VAIO Power Management.

    I admit that I did not read the page for your model. I'm just throwing what works best for the F series.
