You can try use VLC player which is mostly region free. The sony dvd drives are known to be picky about the media they read and write.

The problem is the region control system, which we cannot help you crack. You can only change the region the drive is for 3-5 times and then you are stuck.

Someone pointed out to me that R0 was a 'freebie' that any player should play.

Have you tried setting your DVD drive to region 2?

MY understanding is that Region 0 means no region coding so this type of DVD will play under region setting without needing a region change. (Region 0 means that the same product can be sold into several regions which brings economies of scale).

My first steps to debug a DVD which won't play would be to (a) visual inspection for damage and (b) try it in another computer or DVD player. If WinDVD is working for other discs then I wouldn't expect it to be the cause of the problem.

The current region setting of the optical drive and the number of changes remaining can be checked under the optical drive properties in Device Manager.
