It sounds like you own an SR? Is that right?

If so, you can just uninstall the Vaio Switch Mode. It's supposed to correspond with the buttons at the top of your keyboard if you do have an SR.

(I don't know personally how to remove it, as I do use it. I think other members have though. They might chime in and let you know how to do it.)

you can uninstall the app from the control panel > programs.
or if you just want to disable that program, you can do that in msconfig:
start > run > msconfig > startup > uncheck vaio mode.

Thx for your input, but it isn't the mode switch. its on the screen five icons all grouped together, explorer, window media player, window photo gallery, web cam, and click to disk. Now you can move the group around the screen as a group, but I just want to get it off my screen, but not disable the programs, thx

No, that's Vaio Mode Switch. If you check your Taskmanager, you'll see VMSwitch.exe running if this is it.

You see, if you click on them, it'll launch the programs.

However, removing this particular program will not remove the programs from your laptop. They will still be in the programs menu area in the Start Menu or in other shortcut menus, such as the taskbar.

oh, Actually, if you press on the setting button when you restart and log in to your laptop (VMSwitch.exe will launch again next restart), you can change it to hide automatically after 5 seconds I believe.

It's Below Display Settings it says:
    Always Display in Foreground
Hide Button Icons after a fixed Period of time
    Change Wallpaper when mode changes
(They are checkboxes, similar to those on webpages)

You can uncheck Always Display in Foreground, and check Hide Button Icons after a fixed period of time, and it'll disappear, but if you hit the buttons at the top, it will launch whatever programs they are assigned to.
