    removing the hidden partition

    In order to delete and recover the sony hidden backup partition do i need 3rd party software?

    I tried http://vaioz.com/removepartition.html
    but when i right click the hidden partition the only option is "help"

    I personally use Partition Magic. I usually take that time not only to delete the partition, but to allocate all those free spaces to other existing partition :) Do all of them in one pass :)

    Its got wizards and nice graphical user interface, so any user would be able to understand and.. lots of nagging.. so you won't do something wrong :eek:

    Doesn't Sony provide software for this? HP does.

    Be sure to make recovery DVD's first. Don't wanna get caught without them.

    Personally I like good command line tools like Diskpart. I do all my partitioning and imaging work with free MS tools. Basically it's your choice - some people prefer a graphical user interface, some don't...
    Using Diskpart you have to know what you're doing, there's no "are you sure?" nagging.
    So far DiskPart worked with every disk/partition I told it to, don't know about the exact type of partitions on your VAIO.
