    What is the difference between the VAIO S480 and the S460? What is the difference between the S480 and the S380 and the S480 and the S360?

    Does the S480 have the same heat problems that the 460 has had?

    Basically all S-series have heat issues, but i guess the s380/360 run a few degrees cooler since it has the older dothan based Centrino processor. the 400 generation is newer than the 300 generation. the "60" in 360 and 460 means that it was sold in retail stores. the "80" as in 380 and 480 means is was generally sold directly from Sony either from their Sony Style stores or from the Sony Style online stores; hence, the customers could customize it the same way they could customize a dell notebook from dell.com.

    there's a couple of threads on this forum that compares the s460 to the s360, take a look.

    hmmm if i m correct s380 is sonoma based and s360 is dothan based :)

    No, the S4xx is Sonoma based while the S3xx isn't. The last two numbers merely indicate different configurations.
