I'm customizing s580 and not sure with the o/s. Currently i'm using and got used to xp professional. Should I pay $79more for professional? Actually I can download xp professional from someplace. But not sure with buying original professional program will be much safe..

dude u can get XP Pro from anywhere, dude use ur friends CD or download, or go to the nearest chinese store or brown store and they will sell u one for 10$ or something.

Software should never be a problem for anyone at this day and age, everything is available via internet now.

    Thanks,

    MysticGolem

I know i can get it from everywhere, but i'm afraid about If i use them, I can't get windows update, since window's cd-keys or registration numbers are sharing with other peoples.

Unless you have a specific need like logging into a NT Domain Controller, I doubt you'll notice a difference.

Also please do not post things that are clearly illegal. Microsoft has implemented Genuine Software Advantage You have to validate your copy of Windows to get updates.

plus there's the sticker on the bottom of your machine that has your windows version and product key on the bottom. its mostly an aesthetics thing, but if i'm running Pro, i don't want my machine labeled home

I don't think it's worth the extra money for XP Pro, because, as posted, you can't take advantage of it.

My desktop has XPP, and my laptop has XPH - never noticed a difference between the two.

Does the Duo Core laptops require XP Pro? Can the multiprocessor fully be utilised only with Pro or is Xp Home sufficient? Pls let me know.
