thank man..........................

are you happy with your S? any complaints? whats your fav thing about it?
-
Completely happy. Definetly love the size and it has great perfomance for it's size.
My Complaints from a previous post:
- The loose battery problem everyone was talking about doesn't bother me.
- The right wrist rest just gets slightly warm unlike reports I have heard (unless talking about the bottom of the laptop which does get pretty warm but bearable). The back lower right exhaust port can expell some pretty hot air and will be a very effective handwarmer when caught outside during the winter.
- I have noticed the display being slightly darker on the left and right sides of the screen in a sort of pincushion effect, but it really isn't noticable unless your looking for it with a white background displayed.
The minor problems I have deal with the USB Ports, Card Reader, and the touchpad buttons. Only two USB Ports and they are both on the right side. The Card Reader is only for Sony Memory Sticks (Would have liked a SD or CF Slot). The touchpad buttons are great, but I just feel like they should be slightly closer to the touchpad. I keep clicking the dead space between the touchpad and buttons (I'll get used to them eventually).
I received Quake 4 and it runs great, although I am only playing at 640x400 at High Settings and no AA (Update 1024x600 runs OK, and 1280x800 runs but is sluggish. Turning on AA even on 640x400 is extremely laggy).

Geeeeez WILL people STOP doing that! Why can't you say "Any pics of extended battery?" instead of WHAT you want, coz then people come here and expect to see them.
"3 Brand new W3V's going cheap!" is probably what we'll see next, and the topic will say "does anyone know where i can get 3 brand new W3Vs for cheap?" -
Stimp, did you upgrade the processor yourself?
Was the RAM and Hard disk easy to upgrade? (fit yourself) -
Can you run Quake 4 at full resolution, but with the game settings more toward medium instead of high? I've been drooling over the S560 (I can get one at the local Navy Exchange). Thanks!
-
No, Sony doesn't charge a premium for the processor or Hard Drive upgrade IMHO. I only upgraded both memory sticks which was easy to do, and the pdf User's guide gives you step by step directions.
Q4 is playable at medium at full res, but if enough baddies are on screen you will have a slight lag. For me, it was still playable with the lag, but some people are a little more picky. -
Thanks for the quick response! I'm pretty much set of getting the S560, I just need to shop around for some good 1 Gig DDR RAM sticks.
Sincerely,

That looks like the right type. I've also seen some low latency Corsair RAM for double that price, but I'm not sure that the high speed stuff is worth the money (depends on the motherboard).

Speaking of extended batteries - the sony ones are quite expensive - does anyone know about the non oem ones sold on ebay etc. Are they safe - does anybody have any experience with them?
-
-
Anyone use the after market extended battery?
-
You might want to start a new thread guys -your questions are probably gonna get lost, and go unanswered, since your posting at the bottom of this thread...
-
Great idea - thanks!
