    Recently my brother bought a new Sony VGN-FS-980 laptop with the following specifications

    Processor
    Intel® Pentium® M Processor 740 (1.73GHz , 2MB L2 Cache)
    Operating System Microsoft® Windows® XP Home Edition with SP2
    Front Side Bus Speed 533MHz Chipset Intel® 915GM
    Hard Drive 80GB 4200rpm Ultra ATA
    Integrated Wireless LAN
    Intel® PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection (802.11b/g)
    LCD 15.4” WXGA display (1280x800) with XBRITE™ technology
    Memory 1GB PC2-4200 533MHz DDR2
    (Expandable up to 2GB)

    He is finding that computer is very slow,it is taking lot of time to load operating system and while burning DVD data transfer rate is only 750KB/s.He has not partitioned the hard disk.Is the problem due to unpartitioned disk?Does the hard disk require formatting?
