run msconfig. disable isbmgr.exe in there and reboot.

Which VAIO? And HOW did you install Vista? Did you install all of the correct drivers and ancillary apps REQUIRED for Vista to run properly on a VAIO. And did you install all of them in the proper order? The sequence of installing them can be crucial.

wOw!! excellent!! thanks alot beaups! :D

    SOLUTION:
    well,
[1] at first, i recommend to press ctrl+alt+del to end the message process!
FOOT NOTE: because, i didn't find "isbmgr.exe" from "msconfig" , so:
[2] go to the message target (program files -> sony -> ISB Utility)
    [3] DELETE "isbmgr.exe" for ever! :p
    [4] FINISHED!! ;)

All you have done is make the symptoms go away. You have not resolved the issue of why you had the message in the first place. There are only two reasons why you would have seen it.

    1. You had a non-Sony battery installed.
    2. You don't have the Sony drivers and supporting utilities installed properly.

If it is the latter, then you may very well face other issues.

The only time this has come up here in this forum was when someone tried to use a non-Sony battery, or had done a "clean" install and didn't get the drivers and associated apps installed in the right order.

As I said before, you have successfully made the symptoms go away, but you have not fixed the underlying problem.

What was the source for these two DVD's? And what procedure did you go thur to install from them?

about DVDs, when i bought my laptop, they give me two dvds thats contain some programs such as office, recovery and so on that i didn't pay attention so much.(if you want know more i can see dvds again)

about battery, thats original and i didn't exchange it.

i think if i reinstall os again, maybe solve it. what do you think?

    thanks

What model Sony do you have? About these DVD's, WHO gave them to you. Sony laptops do not come with DVD's, they come with an app that lets you create a set of recovery disks. The ones you describe don't really sound Sony recovery DVD's. The Sony ones work in two modes.

The first mode, you boot the machine from disk #1 and it gives you a menu of options, one of which is to recover the machine back to its original out of the box state. NOTE: IF YOU SELECT THAT OPTION IT WIPES OUT EVERYTHING ON THE DRIVE. EVERYTHING!!!

Mode 2, you load disk 1 while the os is running (not booted from the DVD). The DVD presents you a list of individual things you can restore.

Does this sound like your DVD's?

Yes reinstalling the OS might help but ONLY if you have a DVD recovery set like I described above (which will put it back to it's out of the box state) OR if you do a CLEAN install and then install the proper drivers and libraries/applications that the driver need and ABSOLUTELY do so in the correct sequence. Screw up the sequence and thinks will not work right.

But first we need to identify what model you have and what DVDs you actually have.

I don't know anything about that model, nor can I find any reference to it on Sony's site. What OS did that machine ORIGINALLY come with? (I am guessing not Win7.)

If you restore the OS from the DVD (assuming the seller gave you the right set of DVD's) you will be back to the ORIGINAL OS.

You may THINK you don't have any problem with the battery, but the reality is you don't know. Without the proper drivers and associated libraries your hardware is NOT functioning as it was designed. It might be properly charging the battery, and then again it might not.

If you want to continue to run Win 7 and you want to be sure that the hardware is running properly (and assuming the machine didn't originally come with Win7) , you need to find a clean install guide for this model and locate the proper drivers AND libraries. (The libraries are equally as important as the drivers. That is somewhat unique to SONY. They have libraries as well as drivers and BOTH are NECESSARY.)

I can't really tell you where to find such a guide. Again I couldn't find anything about that model.

-> Just on a side note, the message can occur with a genuine Sony battery too.

Either the battery failed (happened to me) - or: the contacts are potentially slightly corroded/dirty -> try cleaning them.

And as Gary said, your removal of the Sony utility did nothing to fix the problem - I guess you also just wear earplugs when you drive a car that has started to make a strange noise....

    Edit:
Gary - from this site it seems as if it could be a CR series Vaio - http://www.screentekinc.com/Sony_Va...1-inch--1280x800-wxga-laptop-lcd-screen.shtml

-> You can try the Sony support site - they tend to have all apps and drivers available, BUT they don't tell you which order to install them in.

If you can afford it, maybe phone up Sony and ask how much a set of recovery discs would cost - they shouldn't be too expensive. (maybe in the 30$ range)

Again, even with Linux you don't KNOW if you have any problems or not. Sony does NOT support linux. And without their drivers and librariies the hardware is not necessarily running as it was designed to do.

Forget the seller at this point, that is likely to be a dead end. Now that we know you have a CR model look here on NBR for a thread about a Win7 clean install on a CR series machine. That should lead you to the proper drivers, libraries and sequence!

-> Well, you have to create your own anyway, i.e. there isn't a supplied disc.

If you use the discs, they should also offer to restore the recovery partition if you no longer have it.
