Hello, as stated in the title, i need to buy a notebook for my major (architecture) as well as for general college purposes. Are there any specific sony models that would you could suggest? It needs to render pretty quickly, have a hefty harddrive (80+gb's), have a rather large, but not too large screen (15"?), and be reasonably quick (1024 ram/1.7+ghz). Im looking to spend around 1000-1500. thanks for helpin me out.

Look else where (another brand). For all the features you specified, you don't have enough money to get a Sony that fits your needs. Try the Pentium 4 3.3Ghz Toshiba for $1300, it has over a gig of ram. ALso look at HP.

If you're gonna be using Autocad then you won't need discrete graphics...just get something with a large enough to facilitate the design screen...although i've seen just as many autocaders doing fine with small screens, but i think your eyes will thank you for a larger screen. Specs-wise you needn't anything powerful on the cpu front as well.

Umm, sony is currently selling their FS series notebooks after discounts and everything for a grand. I think those are reasonably nice. However, I must say that the S and T series is what Sony laptops are all about.
