I think at Sony's they must be out of their minds. No matter if it's clearance or a refurb laptop, the price that you get even after the 15% is just as much as buying a new one.
compared to other outlet stores like lenovo and especially dell, sony's doesn't make any sense. why doesn't even exist.
The cheapest SR190, after the discount, + tax is around $1100 with a P8400 and 1GB ram, 80GB HDD and intel graphic card.
Do they even realize it? Only someone stupid would buy a refurb for the price of a new one.
PS: why the preconfigured SR290, in only the first one it is mentioned bluetooth? I thought all SRs have BT.

That's why they report its first operating loss in 14 years a massive $2.9 billion
-
Sony has made a lot of mistakes and it is finally catching up to them.
-
you just realized that? hahahaha, look at all those outlet Zs with 128gb SSD @ $3400
one of their mistakes is pricing the Z690 refresh 300$ higher than the Z590 in canada
my god, the extended battery used to be 100$, now it's 130$, and im PRETTY sure it's the SAME battery -
Sony lost money primarily due to their high Bravia prices and the mess up with the PS3 games.
The outlets have always been a scam no matter if it is sony/dell/hp.
The difference between sony refurb/open boxes and DELL is that Sony restores all external parts if they show ANY cosmetic imperfection, while dell will sell a scratched up XT tablet with a bleeding LCD as open box and you will waste days to deal with them to get a decent replacement, given that they will NOT have the same one in stock. Don't ask me how I know.
So you all wrong! -
i've heard horror stories about the sony outlet as well.
what mistakes have they made with PS3 games? -
They give away exclusives to Xbox 360 by not pursuing the game developers. Need I say more?
Losing Ace Combat to xbox 360 is a disgrace. They deserve the loss in profit. I just feel sorry for the people working at the lower level being laid off because of the incompetent decision maker in the upper levels. -
It's been quite a few years that Sony has made some serious mistakes... You CANNOT command a high premium price if you are not an innovator in high tech and frankly in the last 10 years Sony has been lagging...
I say that typing on an hyperexepensive Z series, but hey Sony was just lucky that I bought it before Lenovo slashed the price of the X300... -
disagree, Dell's outlet offers very good pricing for what you are getting, they even run coupons on them
-
No. Sony outlet is not a scam. The fact is that you did not visit its online store at a right time. Sonystyle outlet is usually being updated every midnight during weekdays. If you visit it around this time, you will be able to see many deeply discounted items. Cheap items are sold as soon as they are listed. For example, I paid $950 including tax for a refurbished SZ780, which was immediately sold out. I bought this laptop at 12:30 AM; in next 30 min. this laptop was sold out.
A long time ago, I paid only $900 for Sony S260 laptop at Sonystyle outlet, while its retail price ranged between $1400 and $1600.
So far, I bought three laptops, one LCD TV (Bravia), cameras, lens at Sonystyle outlet. The price was always incredible; all of them were refurbished, but they were always like new. I love Sonystyle outlet! -
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
what about Xbox losing Mass effect, Bioshock, and elder scrolls 4? You could argue that is a WAY harder hit then ace combat lol. Also all those games were better in some respects then the 360 versions.
Anyway here is sony's problem....WHERE is there netbook? No, and dont give me that Vaio P stuff sony finally had the chance to make biliions a year on netbooks like everyone else and instead went for a niche market im telling you if they dont come out with a traditional netbook like everyone else they are gonna regret it.
People who buy Sony's buy it for the Style and quality while the Vaio P is a decent offering it isnt gonna be enough to advance the Sony Vaio lineup/sales
sony outlet prices are a scam
