I have an external hard drive that connect to my expresscard slot and I was curious if the Vaio SZ series BIOS will allow you to boot from the express card slot?

Has anybody tried this? Does it appear as a bootable option in the BIOS?

I have an expresscard that has eSATA ports on it that run to a sata external drive. 3.0Gb/s. I just want to know if it will be possible to boot from this drive.

Thus the question is whether the BIOS allows for booting from the expresscard slot.

    Thanks

you can check if there is an option in BIOS to let you boot from USB drive. if so there is a probability you can boot from your external drive since the express card can be controlled by USB controller or PCIe controller depends on how the manufacturer configure it.

Interesting topic. I have an external drive that has eSata and USB 2.0 ports. I think the USB 2.0 is faster on the SZ. I have no personal tests to back that claim but I have read here a lot and some other users have posted the Express Card slot only works at 30mbs. I read that after I bought the express card adapter for eSata. I thought it would be faster also. If anyone knows more please post.
