Everytime I startup my computer it immediately connects to my home netwrok, then disconnets, then reconnects after a few minutes - any idea why it disconnects initially and takes so long ot establish a reliable connection (I have done the BIOS upgrade from Sony Japan which I though was supposed to hlep with wireless reliability)?

Its because of vista's security precautions... All vista machines do that. Its not specific to sony.

Hmm, anyway to change that security setting - it's a bit annoying

Not that I know of. I was annoyed at that when I was running vista.

    Thankfully, doesn't happen under xp.

Thats weird, I've never seen that happen. Mine (VGN-FZ190) connects to the network automatically on startup (I selected Save and connect auto when I first connected to my wireless network) and it stays connected.

I noticed that it doesn't connect on startup as fast as it does under XP. At first I thought it was a TZ issue, but I suspected it was due to Vista. Lets hope the patch will fix some of the networking issues (I doubt it).

At the device manager under the network adapters do you have the 6to4 adapter?
I uninstall it by mistake and now i can't install it again.

Away form the issue of the thread: Do you use the battery care function? Is it usefull?

FWIW... I too experience this same issue. Connects to my home wifi, then disconnects for some reason. Never had this problem with any other unit.
