hi all im new to this forum, but i have done something unbelievably stupid whilst slightly drunk/hungover i attempted to create a partition on my c drive to install xp into a few mistakes here and there i ended up formatting my C drive and my recovery partition completely. now if i try to install XP it says that windows cannot find a HDD or mass storage device to install into. (btw i lost recovery disks and can't access any form of bios/recovery as my partition is pretty much destroyed)

first of all is there anyway i can make my laptop identify my HDD?

then can i install all necessary drivers...etc (btw how do i install the drivers?)

sorry for asking these questions but i need some serious help please.

    Many Thanks

    Stephan

    hmmm lol... :p

You can purchase recovery discs form sites such as Portable One :) The disc/s you have everything you need. But the hdd problem, I am not too sure myself.

Try using another PC to download and burn a boot CD (there are some available on the net such as Hiren's Ultimate Boot CD) which contains CHKDSK. I had a laptop whose hard drive crashed and got corrupted, I couldnt boot up and no software or boot CD was even recognizing the hard drive was tehre. Luckily I was able to run the simple CHKDSK utility, normally available within windows, it was not only able to recognize my drive but it also fixed it and I was able to boot up and all my data was intact.

It seems like WinXP's installer can't find the SATA driver needed for your model. Try searching for SATA Driver for your model and present it to the installer when it say "Press F6 if you need to install a third party SCSI or RAID driver." in WinXP installation.

Good luck with that. The FZ series machine has no floppy drive and the XP installer will ONLY use a floppy for the drivers when you use the F6 trick. The only way to do this is to slipstream the drivers into the installation. There are numerous threads here about this issue and how to do the slipstream.
